Domenico Dolce was born on september 13 1958  in Polizzi Generosa which is a small village in Sicily and Stefano Gabbana  was born on November 14 1962 in Venice Italy. Dolce completed his fashion designing course in Sicily itself and joined his family business, which was a small clothing factory. Whereas Gabbana was a graphic designer, with no education in the field of fashion.

Both Dolce and Gabbana met in the year 1980 when they were working as assistants n an atelier in Milan. Both of them started working together in the year 1882 as freelance designers.

The first collection of Dolce and Gabbana was in the year 1986 which was appreciated internationally abd they opened their own boutiquein the year 1989 in Japan. In the year 1990 their first mens collection was launched and in Milan they opened their first womens boutique. Both of them started designing the complice line for Genny group in Milan. In the year 1992 they started designing scarves, ties, perfumes, beachwear and other accessories.

“10 Years of Dolce & Gabbana”, is a book written by the company telling about their history and photos of top fashion photographers. The popularity that D&G has received in less than a decade, many other companies are struggling for this kind of popularity.

The designs represented by Dolce and Gabbana represent the way they view women. The style which they offer is very classy.

Today Dolce and Gabban have two main couture lines:

• Dolce and Gabbana Couture.
• The more informal one for the younger generation the D&G.

The costing of Dolce and Gabbana is slightly expensive compared to other companies in the market. The designs that they offer are relatively very classy and sophisticated. The general pricing of D&G jeans ranges from $500-$700 and their t-shirts are relatively lesser.
The jackets and dresses are relatively more expensive ranging from $2000-$7000.

The D&G label is very famous amongst the celebrities ranging from TV celebrities to film stars and musicians.
