JJ Valaya
The name associated with royalty and antiquity of the past and transforming the past into the present couture is JJ Valaya. He was born on 8th October 1967 in Jodhpur in Rajasthan and from the beginning he excelled in arts and that’s what brought him into fashion designing and his Excellency in arts, we can see it in the brilliant trousseau which he designs.
He was a graduate from NIFT which he joined in 1989. His actual name was Jagsharan Jeet Singh Ahluwalia and from this name came the label JJ Valaya. His creativity was all in his genes as his mother was a designer of kid’s clothes his brother was a cartoonist and his aunt was an interior designer.
In the year 1990 he won the “Prix D` Incitation” at the young designers international competition which was held in Paris he was the first Indian to have won that award. And on the graduation day of NIFT he won the ELYXA award and also an award for the most innovative use of fabric.
In the year 1992 JJ Valaya along with his brother T.J Singh launched the couture label “JJ Valaya” and today this label is considered as the most revered luxury brand. This house deals in Manufacturing, Designing and retailing fashion and its products. He not only designs clothes but also furnishing and accessories.
In 1996 he launched another store “Valaya Home” of his which is the first flagship store in Delhi and remains the largest till date. Following a good response in the year 1999 expanded his prêt line “Studio Valaya”.
JJ Valaya was the first Indian designer to do a solo fashion show. And he was also the first Indian designer to launch his collection along with an international designer named Todd Oldham. His collections are considered to be trend setters they have embellishments on them with Swarovski crystals and intricate hand embroidery, he makes his work look antique as he is inspired by the royal heritage of India (the bygone era).
In the year 2006 he launched his diffusion label “Valaya Quantum”. He is in the Board of Governors of the fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and an official Ambassador of Swarovski India.
House of Valaya is the most luxurious fashion house in India the store provides a whole lot of products to its clientele like furniture , tapestries, Home furnishings, Footwear, Haute couture and Cuisine too , isn’t that fantastic for its clientele. It also has its store in United Kingdom, UAE and Saudia Arabia.His Couture is available for both men and women.
