Neeta Lulla

The name Neeta Lulla is associated with the fashion fraternity or the glamour world of today. To start with as a career she started as a fashion choroegrapher as an assistant to Jeanne Naoroji , in the late 80’s.

The first Bollywood for which she designed was Tamasha for kimi katkar. Then with this movie she entered into the world of fashion designing, but she turned to fame when she designed costumes for Sridevi in Lamhe and thus created a niche for her self in the industry, and there was no looking back for her after that. For her movie Lamhe she has also won a National award. She has designed for almost 350 movies till date.

Films such as Devdas, Jodha Akbar  in it her costumes which she had designed for Aishwarya Rai  were magnificent her work and the research which she has to undergo for designing for the mughal era was tremendous and this work of hers showed of in her costumes. They were intricate and traditional work done on them, they were just adorable. For which she has won awards also. Neeta Lulla also designed clothes for Shilpa Shetty in Big Brother.

In her latest designing she has designed Aishwarya Rai’s wedding trousseau .And for the Hollywood film “One night with the king” and she is also designing for “Mistress of Spices” which is Gurinder Chadha’s movie.

She has a vast Clientele from the Bollywood like Tabu, Mahima Chaudry, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachan, Sridevi, Juhi Chawala and many more to list. In the year 2005 she has launched her own line and opened up a flagship store in Mumbai, as she felt that many people could not reach her, who wanted to wear her clothes but they couldn’t so for them there is this store. Her store has Diffusion (Neeta Lulla Nishq), Luxury Pret and trousseau consultation (Neeta Lulla Couture). Her store is named Neeta Lulla Signature Store which is located in Santa Cruz.

Neeta Lulla has a special firm for Bridal consultation and trousseau packages, lifestyle and diffusion wear named NSL Pvt Ltd.

When Neeta Lulla designs for any film she says that her costumes should not only be appealing to the actor and director but it has to suit the background and the story of the movie too.

Apart from her work as a costume designer she is also a faculty at Hamstech (Hyderabad) and S.N.D.T Mumbai.
