Raglan Sleeve
A Raglan Sleeve is constructed from the shoulder to the neckline. It is very comfortable to wear and is usually used in sweatshirts and jerseys and other sports wear as it is very comfortable in wearing. The construction of a Raglan sleeve is very different from that of a basic sleeve. A Raglan sleeve is only one piece rather than several pieces sewn together. These types of shirts are easy to move in and they have no shoulder seam. The raglan sleeve is wider in the underarm area than any other sleeve.
Raglan shirt garments are more casual and are usually short or three quarter length sleeves. In a raglan sleeve garment the sleeve is usually of a different color from the rest of the garment and this creates a sporty look.
Raglan sleeves are also used in maternity wear. The design is very comfortable for expectant mothers.
In terms of sewing also a raglan sleeve is much easy to sew as it requires less stitching and is less time consuming. It is also a preferred style for knitting and crocheted sweaters.
