Ritu Beri
About 30 years back when the term fashion came into mind the places that clicked in our mind were mainly Italy or the French. But now this is not the case there is a large boom in the fashion industry of India today because of the talented fashion designers that we are having today in India.
The name Ritu Beri is known not only in India but also abroad. She is a graduate from NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Design) Delhi in 1988.
In December 1990 she created her brand “Lavanya” which was successful. At first ritu Beri used to design clothes for herself, family and friends and slowly slowly she made it big in the fashion industry.
In the year 1991 she started designing for Liberty, Regent street London where she made her mark and got trained under a French designer Francois Lesage .
In 1995 her brand : “sanskriti” was launched. This brand of hers mainly catered to the traditional Indian women of today and with this she made a niche of herself amongst the ethnic Indian people.
In the year 2000 she launched her collection in paris that were ready to wear ones. And ritu beri was the first Asian designer to lead a French brand named “Scherrer”.
Ritu Beri Fashion Fraternity (RBFF) was for the young talented designers of today who are keen in pursuing a career in fashion .
In a magazine named Promostyl she was the only Indian designer who forecasted the fashion trends for the coming season. Which colour is going to be in vogue which silhouette will be the most popular and what is not in fashion she forcasted all this all over the world.
Ritu Beri also designs for bollywood stars and for the movies.,she also wrotea book “101 ways to look your best” which was published by Penguin.
She also designed uniforms for the Hyatt regency Delhi, Delhi Police force, Indian competitors to to Atlanta Olympic games. Her works are unlimited and enormous.
Ritu beri is in the board of governors of NIFT and world gold council. She has also selected colours of the cars of hero Honda company in japan before they were launched. Internationally she has also designed the look of the Barbie doll along with the worlds other 10 designers.
She writes fashion journals for leading journals like the Asian Age, Pioneer, Femina, Indian express and Hindustan times.
Ritu beri along woth D damas has launched a jewellery line which will have finger rings, necklaces, earings and pendants and all of these stuff would be available at the D damas outlets across the country.
