Rocky S
Rocky S was a commerce graduate but he felt a strong inclination towards designing rather than commerce so he joined the J.D institute of Fashion Design. And after graduating from there he got a job as a designer at a departmental store in Mumbai named Roopam.
After having a few years experience over here and having gained a little more knowledge he entered the film industry. The first actor for whom he designed was Akshay Kumar .Then after that there was no looking back for Rocky S , as he started getting calls to design for actresses also. So with abundant number of orders he set up his own small manufacturing unit so that he could design easily.
Apart from Bollywood he thought of retailing also of opening his exclusive Boutique. He opened his first boutique under the brand name “Rocky S” in Juhu.
Rocky S has designed for many Bollywood Actors and Actresses like Aftab, Hritik, Esha Deol, Diya Mirza and many more to list.
In the year 1998 he participated in IGEDO fair in Dusseldorf- Germany, he was selected to represent India in this fair.
In 2001 he showcased his collection in London’s Selfridges store. In 2003 he launched his traditional couture Label named “Boulevard Benzer” he launched his first ever traditional wear in New York.
MTV gave him the “most stylish Designer award” in 2004. When Rocky S participated in the Milan Fashion Week in 2005 he opened the show with fashion big wigs like Armani, Prada etc.
In 2005 he also launched his own label named “Rocky S Noir” and this brand retailed in the domestic market as well as abroad.
Rocky S was not only restricted to designing costumes but in the year 2006 he started designing Home linen under the brand name “Rocky S Home”.
In 2007 he collaborated with Hakoba which is the largest manufacturer of embroidered fabric and laces to create club wear for both Women and Men under the brand name “Rocky S Club”.
He was also the first Indian designer to launch his own parfum line under the name “Rocky S Noir Parfums” for both men and women.
His brand “Rocky S Les Bags” is an accessory line for bags.
Rocky S field in fashion is not restricted in one area as you can see he’s a very diversified designer.
